Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has shared a photo from his hospital after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury.
Saka, 23, is ready to stay on the sidelines and boss Mikel Arteta predicts this could last up to two months.
Sharing a post on Instagram, Saka wrote: “The majority see obstacles, but few see the opportunities.
“Recovery has started and I’m coming back stronger! Thank you all for your messages.”
The England winger fell during the first half of the Premier League match against Crystal Palace grabbing his hamstring and the injury was later confirmed.
After leaving Selhurst Park on crutches, fans were worried about their star man, who has scored nine times and assisted 13 times in 24 games in all competitions this season.
Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 5-1 thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli And Declan Rice.
The north London side also recorded a 1-0 victory against Ipswich Town at home in their first match without Saka in the team.
Giving an update on Saka, Arteta said he had “a procedure”, adding that “everything went well, but unfortunately he will be out for many, many weeks”.
“I said several weeks, so I think it will be more than two months. I don’t know exactly how much longer.
“It will depend on how the scar tissue starts to heal, in the first week or so, how mobile it is. Let’s see, it’s very difficult to say.”
The obvious replacement for Saka would be Chelsea lender Raheem Sterling – who is also recovering from a knee injury himself.
Fortunately for Arsenal, the team expect Sterling to be available again soon, with a welcome boost for the 30-year-old.
Arteta insisted they “will have to see this week how he develops” when it comes to Sterling’s progress.
“We probably expected the knee injury to last longer than it has in the last few days. I hope it’s good news because we need him.”
The Gunners are next in action when they take on London rivals Brentford on New Year’s Day.
Arsenal are second in the table, currently six points behind Liverpoolwho have a match in hand.
